I am contracted with Regence BlueShield and Premera networks.

If you are in these provider networks, my medical biller can directly submit your claims to the insurance providers, with your permission.  For any other insurance providers in which I am not “in network,” you may be able to have a large portion of your costs covered and we can help you with forms and “Superbills.”

My Practice

As a Clinical Psychologist, I provide services to adult women and men of all ages, couples, families, and groups. I have provided such psychotherapy services for over 30 years in hospital settings, outpatient private offices, and, more recently, via remote Tele-Health video conferencing. I specialize in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma treatment and abuse, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, interpersonal relationships, communication skills, adjusting to disability, chronic health issues, pain management, life transitions, disordered eating, and physical and emotional well-being. Since COVID, I now meet with clients virtually over a secure Zoom platform. Most of my clients have found the Tele-Health video-conferencing platform to be quite workable and have felt this has provided a safe and effective alternative for therapy during these uncertain times.

Psychotherapy is not easily described in general terms. It varies depending on the personality and background of each therapist and client, as well as the particular problems brought to the sessions. My training has been in a broad range of approaches with a primary focus on cognitive-behavioral therapies and evidenced-based treatments. My style of therapy is quite interactive and I individualize treatment programs based on the unique needs and strengths of each client. My personal goal during our work together is for you to feel safe, never judged, accepted, and respected. It is important to me that any feedback I offer be honest, authentic, useful, and supportive. As I value your feedback as well, I encourage you to be in partnership with me as we work together to foster growth, establish treatment goals, and determine best course of action. I do not “dictate” a direction, but work with you to determine what is a workable and meaningful pathway to change. Together we will work as a team to set the pace, content, and focus of each session and overall treatment process.

I work from a theoretical and holistic model of healing which includes the mind, body, spirit, and community. Research repeatedly demonstrates that each of these contributes to a whole, integrated sense of self. I focus on the individual’s inner strengths and work to help you recognize and value your own uniqueness and relationship to the world around you. I believe that each of us is a whole and valuable being with many strengths and special qualities worthy of recognition and honor. I will always offer my authentic presence in our sessions to help you honor who you are and recognize your specialness and value.

My extensive experience with evidenced-based therapy practices allow for seamless integration of skills, enhancing their benefit to you as we work together. All services are tailored to meet the individual needs of each client and include aspects of these evidence-based treatments to help make tangible and meaningful life changes.

Here are some of the evidenced-based therapies I utilize to address the problems many people bring to therapy. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), describes a set of evidence-based therapies all based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are inter-related and thus influence each other. Additionally, the interconnection of mind, body, and spirit refers to the idea that thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are profoundly impacted by our physical body and sense of connection and belonging. Family systems theory suggests that individuals cannot be fully understood in isolation from one another, but rather as interconnected and interdependent individuals who are shaped and influenced by relationships, family, and community. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is another evidence-based treatment that addresses mental health conditions and life challenges. ACT helps clients learn to accept what is out of their personal control and commit to action that improves and enriches their lives. It employs the use of Mindfulness Skills, identification and utilization of Values, while emphasizing self-compassion and lifestyle choices. And finally, working from a framework of Functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP), (a form of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) ), I focus as well on the client-therapist interactions in the therapy sessions to help facilitate overall therapeutic change. Through this lens, clients and therapists identify problems that are occurring in the therapy session in order to make constructive changes outside of the therapy setting. Utilization of all of these practices provide the richest framework for therapeutic change and understanding, and are always provided as options to the client as we partner together to obtain treatment goals.
